Medina’s narrow labyrinth streets, white houses, doors and windows painted blue have inspired many European painters, poets and writers. Artists who chose the bohemian life, such as Orson Wells and Jimy Hendrix, lived in the city’s historical medina (within the city walls). It is fascinating to watch the foamy waves of the Atlantic Ocean from the historical walls built by a French architect in the 18th century (as in the movie “Ladies and Gentlemen” by Jeremy Irons and Patricia Kaas).
